SUMMIT COUNTY WELLNESS PROVIDER NETWORK MISSION: Enhancing Wholeness, Elevating Awareness, and Being in Loving Service.
As a result of the Natural Health Forum, we noticed from the feedback that many of the Wellness Providers from Summit County enjoyed meeting and getting to know each other as much as educating the people in the community.
Cynthia O'Neill and myself were inspired to bring together these wellness providers on a regular monthly basis to get to know the people behind these health care services in our area. We asked everyone to come to our first meeting prepared to talk about; What inspired them to do what they do? What education has brought you to where you stand today? and Who is your ideal client?
This was the kickoff to our circuit. From here we will visit a new office each month to learn more about each others services and experience what it is like to be a new client in the office we are visiting. Our hope is that in coming together, we can be in better service to the community and to our clients.
This mountain region of Colorado is known as one of the greatest outdoor recreation places to live. It is no wonder that people who place a high importance on health and well being have chosen to make this their home. The healthy lifestyle in Colorado is a magnet to some of the best trained, most intuitive and highly qualified healers in their respective fields. Learn more about the wellness providers available to you right here in our own back yard.

NOTES FROM OUR WELLNESS NETWORK MEETING ON THURSDAY. We came together to hear each other’s stories. What inspired you to do what you do? What education brought you to where you stand today? And Who is your ideal client? To follow are some rough notes from this gathering with links to individual websites or emails.
Cynthia O’Neill: “My clientele changed when I changed my idea of the ideal client from someone who I needed to fix to someone who participates in their own healing”. Our mission statement for the Summit County Wellness Network is: Enhancing Wholeness, Elevating Awareness and Being in Loving Service.

Tamara Goodenbour: My path changed when I asked the question. “What is balanced health?” My work was inspired by the writings of Ruby Gibson who helped me to see that balanced health is not just physical but a mutual relationship between the physical, mental and emotional self. When in balanced health there is a radiant happiness.
Erika Tobias: My great grandmother was a massage therapist from Denmark. I moved here from Indiana and now work at Blue Sage Spa. I was asked to brush the horses as a child and found that I naturally had a talent for massaging the horses and discovering what they needed. I use these gifts that I developed as a child in my work today. I am ready to have my own office.
Anne Clarke: “…a book fell off the shelf, on my head entitled Heading toward Omega, this book opened my awareness of the unseen world. My forte is assessing patterns that show up to help me see where the person is now and help them to be where they want to be.
Jackie Stoffel: “My vision for my business (Spheeris) has always been a wellness center. I was a dancer, then after having children I took a part time job selling tickets. Decided I didn’t want to be sitting inside all day. I needed to be moving. So, I began studying to became a Pilates instructor 15yrs ago. Moving my body creates a connection for me to the earth and spirit.” “We are all connected.”

Mary Blakley: I am from Sweden where we have socialized medicine and are required to have ultrasound tests. I have a vascular physicist degree. I believe in early detection and prevention. If we can detect some of these things early we can prevent them, cancer before it reaches stage 3 and stage 4; kidney stones before they drop to the urethra, thyroid enlargement before they need synthroid, clogged carotid arteries before strokes… I work with ultra sound 3D imaging, salivary testing for antioxidant levels and other things.

Amber Kurkoski: I am a massage therapist and work with Mary Blakly. I also teach Bikurum yoga. “I believe in helping people along their journey.”
Inana from Harmony Health: I moved here from Crestone. My van overheated one day in Frisco and I have been here ever since… The things that opened up for me in massage school were both terrifying and amazing… I work with the Dao, Yin/Yang, Dark/Light, Death and Rebirth. I am wired for that. Part of my work is “showing up and offering my gifts”…. Truth has a certain resonance. There is truth in the space between words. In all of us the particles that make up our bodies are the same. It is the space between the particles in all of us is different.

Kim Nearpass: Justin (Pollack), my husband, and I started Mountain River Naturopathic nearly a decade ago and recently added the Backcountry Apothecary to our business. As Naturopaths, we offer many therapies including herbs, acupuncture, homeopathy, and other natural forms of healing. I’m excited to add Maya Abdominal Therapy, a hands on healing, to the list of therapies offered. This therapy helps, break up scar tissue, improve blood flow and restore optimal positioning of the organs. This technique is helpful in cases of digestive and fertility issues.

Chriss Cowan: “We are all healers.” After the diagnosis of my husband’s cancer, we were looking for ways to help him with the pain and improve. Someone said qi gong. Then we heard, qi gong, qi gong, gi gong. It helped with the pain but it also helped with other things. “improves flow of energy”, “improves our connection to the source of all life”. I focus on “recognizing the truth of who they are, I’m listening for that, recognizing it without judgment.”
Caroline Falkenburg: My intention is to help restore order where there is ‘dis-order’, my tool is homeopathy. Homeopathic principles could not be explained until the quantum physics of today. Previously, everything we knew was strictly based on what we could see, the physical. Now, we understand that there are multiple dimensions within each being and multiple tasks occurring simultaneously. We use the symptoms on a physical, mental, and emotional level to help us see the invisible spiritual vital force. Since we are unable to physically see the spirit we rely on these symptoms as signs to guide us and help the spirit. The homeopathic remedies act as a catalyst to stimulate the life force. The changes in the physical are side effects of the strengthening of the spiritual vital force.
Kathy Castrigno: I had repeated colds that went to my lungs, repeated bronchitis, pneumonia…one winter it was really bad and someone recommended acupuncture. I improved and decided to go to acupuncture school. My intention is to inspire. “To inspire” to make changes is important. My focus, everything I have learned I have put in my book, “How to Thrive in the Modern World”. I offer people a free download of this book at the time they make the appointment. Then, “when they walk in my office, they are on the same page with a greater understanding and everything flows more smoothly. “

Chuck Lafrano: Owner of Lafrano Massage, a massage therapist school for continuing education. When a person is in front of me, I see them as having nothing wrong with them, even though they have complaints. I see them as people with badges, purple hearts. There is no blame, no opinion, no assessment, only acknowledgement. They are good just to show up. There are no cowards, all are heroes.
Julie Lafrano: Therapeutic Bodyworker. I take the concepts I’ve learned through life and put them into my work. I wa
s a dancer. Now, in my massage work I get to do a kind of dance while working on the person. I see changes in the person not only physically. I see it make a change in their spirit. “In the beginning of my practice, I had client who I worked with weekly, she went from looking like a dark cloud walking in the room to shining brightly and looking happier. Another client complained of back pain, I was able to massage and break up scar tissue behind her ears that improved her back pain”. It’s all connected.
Erica Raguso: I feel compassion, a connection with you all and faith in what you are doing. I offer Ayurvedic Healing and Massage through my business, Ambika in Breckenridge. “ I have grown a lot through my clients.” Healing has to do with “awakening to consciousness of all of us.” Ambika means Divine Mother.
